SMALLER AND LARGER NATIONS

Friday 2nd January 2026

For smaller nations

1. Avoid war and seek peace at all times. A small nation wins a war against a large nation if it prevents war and protects peace.

2. A small nation that is attacked by a larger nation should ask its friends or trade partner nations if they would accept to have an embassy field office in a region or state or smaller administrative location as well. In this manner several nations could open field embassies across that nation and the nations would be attacked if their embassies are attacked.

3. The smaller nation can move all its senior administrative officials to the embassy of a larger nation or designate a building or premises with permission of a larger nation as the embassy or part of the embassy of the larger nation in the nation's capital. In this manner attacking the embassy attacks that nation. Certainly most personnel should have life skills training.

'Sullivan has found 122 wars and military interventions since World War II in which the United States, the Soviet Union, China, Britain or France fought a weaker adversary. According to her research, the big guys lost 39 percent of the time. The United States walked away from 10 out of 34 military interventions.'

For larger nations

1. Avoid war and seek peace at all times. A large nation more easily wins a war with a smaller nation once it is able to get it going irrespective of whether the small nation wins at the beginning or not.

Russia - Chechnya

U.S.A. - Iraq

Israel - Hamas, Palestine.

2. A large nation may lose a war against a small nation if the small nation has support from a single or multiple large nations. In addition large nations can also be easy economic targets therefore large nations should have most of their earnings required to provide for their population generated from internal trade. External trade can be easily sanctioned and could have considerable implications for a large nation.

Iraq - Kuwait

3. Large nations should understand that against a smaller nation they would usually be perceived as the aggressor. Therefore considerable restraint is important to protect the peace. In addition the large nation needs complete transparency at all times to the extent the Constitution of that nation allows that legally to ensure that the actions of the large nation are shown to be legal and not misinterpreted. This could be the difference in a conflict situation. Sometimes the larger nation may actually be the victim or not responsible for the conflict. For instance Iraq did not do enough in my opinion to show that the economic actions of Kuwait were unjust and not economically practical for Kuwait as well. This would have shown that Iraq was actually being provoked using economic means and in that wise it was not really the source aggressor at the beginning. But it could have reacted much differently to its own advantage.

In all this peace should be protected and maintained. However if a small nation finds itself in a conflict situation it is not necessarily hopeless. A large nation should always strive for peace but if it somehow finds itself in a conflict, it should legally protect its image and keep legality sacrosanct because the large nation is most like seen as the predator which may not always be the situation.

Small and large nations alike need to remember that legally raising the threshold for conflict makes conflict less likely which helps protect the peace.

This in no way seeks to encourage conflict but rather peace however if nations find themselves in such a situation this can hopefully help to create deterrence and save lives.
